Climb the Steps of Dragonstone from Game of Thrones

Gaztelugatxe is the real-life location for Dragonstone in the hit HBO Original series, Game of Thrones.


Nestled in Spain’s Basque Country, the islet is the home to the iconic 240-step footbridge ascended by Daenerys Targaryen, Tyrion Lannister and, in more recent episodes, Jon Snow.


Instead of a giant castle at the top of the bridge, there sits a small church, San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, where visitors can ring the bell three times and make a wish. I would love to not only experience the thrill of climbing the stone steps to the top and making a wish of my very own but to also embark on a kayaking adventure around the island to explore its caves and calm, ancient beauty.
