Ten times out of ten I don’t give Nirvana covers any attention because they’re so poorly done I find myself debating whether or not the musician really dreamt of growing up to be a butcher and not a music maker.
Leave it to Iceland’s Ásgeir Trausti to blow me away with his cover of Nirvana’s 1993 track off the record In Utero, “Heart-Shaped Box”. Now if you’re reluctant like I was to press play, I guarantee that me describing it as the perfect balance of tempo, piano and yes, even synth, will not be the thing that has you jumping on the wagon.
I can promise that if your curiosity gets the better of you and you do click that sideways triangle, you’ll have it on infinite loop before you know it.
Happy Listening, Worms!
